Q. How was Richard ROUNSWELL (or his wife) related to John-1 & Hannah
(-----) GARRISON?

John-1 and Hannah (?) GARRISON left Hunterdon in 1764,
after the dispute with Rev. Andrew Morton. Morton
referred to Garrison as a "broken and bankrupt man" when
he wrote to London about the whole affair. Morton's
letters have been retained, but we do not know Garrison's
side of the dispute. Morton stayed at the Garrison home
when he first came to Amwell, as no residence had been
constructed. I don't recall how long he stayed there,
but when he was confronted about Esther's child, he
called the Garrisons "evil" etc., etc. He moved to the
Phillip Grandin house... Morton also refers to Samuel
KITCHEN and Richard ROUNSWELL as Garrison kin. (Berniece
Cowan, correspondence, 21 March 2002)

The GARRISON/KITCHEN kinship is probably explained by these relationships:
Samuel-2 KITCHEN was the son of Henry-1 and Ann (WHEELER) KITCHEN; his
brother, Joseph-2 KITCHEN m. Mary GARRISON, dau. of John-1 & Hannah (-----)
GARRISON. Thus, Samuel KITCHEN was the brother-in-law of Mary (GARRISON)
KITCHEN.

The question remains, how was Richard ROUNSWELL kin to the family of John-1
& Hannah (-----) GARRISON? John-1 GARRISON's origins are unknown but either
John or his wife Hannah was a sibling of Mary, the wife of Duncan-1
OLIPHANT, per Duncan's will. Two sons of Duncan-1 & Mary (-----) OLIPHANT
married daughters of Freegift & Mary (HIGGINS) STOUT, as did one of the
Richard ROUNSAVELLS in this father-and-son pair:
