Hi Floreda,
I go to the Hunterdon County Historical Society Library in Flemington,
nearly every Thursday to work on a project. I was there this afternoon and
looked up Frank R. Clawson in their obituary file. He was not listed, but
there were a number of other Clawsons listed.
I did find your Frank R. Clawson, Plumber, listed in 2 editions of Breed
Publishing Co., Directory of Lambertville and Flemington, for the years 1897
and 1899. In '97 he lived on New St. which is Park Ave. today. In '99 he
lived on Bonnell St. The directory did not give any other information. I
also checked the one for 1901 and 1905 and there were no listings for any
Clawson.
Sorry, but at least you have additional documentation that he lived in
Flemington before 1900. Also note that the spelling for "Rareton" is
Raritan!
If you are local, you might want to do what I am doing and that is to go
page by page in the Hunterdon County Newspapers to pick up any tidbits that
might be there on your names. [A plumber may have advertised!] The Hunterdon
County Library has an extensive collection of newspapers on microfilm and
the Hunterdon County Historical Society also has the same microfilms in
addition to copies of nearly all the original papers! I am presently up to
1876 in the Democrat and have a way to go before I get to 1900, if my memory
is any good when I get there, I'll try to remember to look for Clawson, but
can't guarantee anything and can't promise anything - if you know what I
mean. I am not a professional genealogist and cannot offer my services.
Regards for now,
MrBill
