John,
The Hunterdon Co. Library has several volumes of "The Jerseyman" at the
library in Flemington. All list members of NJ Hunter should try to take the
opportunity to review these volumes. They have a wealth of info of value to
us all...would love to see someone re-publish...I'd be first in line to buy!
"The Parish Register of the German Reformed Church of Alexandria, Hunterdon
County, NJ. 1763-1802", by Henry Race, M.D. is in Vol. 3, No. 4, published in
June, 1897, Flemington, N.J.
>From the introduction, " May 18, 1802, the German Reformed Synod, at the
request of the congregation, transferred the Church to the care of the
Presbytery of New Brunswick." So, for the later time period, I believe
records maybe possibly be held at the library at Rutger's. I haven't been to
that library, so I can't be sure. I'm sure other list members would have
input on that. This merger would put the members post 1802 with either
Bethlehem Presyterian (Grandin), Kingwood Presbyterian ( I recall records for
this are also in "The Jerseyman") or the Greenwich Presbyterian Church.
I have copied the intro for the article in the Jerseyman, and I also have
copies of the pages (4) pertinent to my family. If you send names, I could
look and see if any appear in the pages I'm holding. There are very few
marriages, some confirmations, and the balance is baptisms. Let me know if I
can be of help.
Happy Hunting, Wendy
