I have some Hills that could fit in your scenario. Joseph Hill (d. 1774)
m. Rebecca Manners (b. 1722) had children John, Rebecca, Joseph, Samuel
and Elizabeth. If this is your John, a son named after brother Samuel
would be a fairly normal course of events. Rebecca Manners is the
daughter of my ancestor John Manners (b. 1679) and Rebecca Stout
(b.1691).

John Hill m. Mary Light, Rebecca Hill m. Samuel Hunt, Joseph Hill m.
Rachel Higgins. Don't know about Samuel Hill.
