There are several requests in this posting and other explanatory
material. Please scroll all the way down.
#1: Anything on my Smiths or perhaps Schmidts. Too common a surname for

Are you asking for two surnames: SMITH and HARBERT? Or, are you asking
for someone named Harbert Smith? Under Smith, first names beginning with
H are: Hendrick, Henry and Hannis.
Obviously, there are many SMITHS, too many to list. If you have one with
a first name, I'll check; otherwise, you can get this in many libraries.
#2: Any Holcombe or Butterfoss in the Janeway Accounts?
No HOLCOMBE
No BUTTERFOSS (or, BUTTER, as this name sometimes was written)
#3. Hi,
What a kind offer- I hope that you are not overwhelmed. I would
appreciate
it if you could look and see if there is any mention of the OXLEY family.
We know they were in Hunterdon County until the mid 1700's when they
moved
to Loudoun County VA.
There are OKES and OUKE (William, Jan. 36) and OUKEY (Jacob n.d.) but no
OXLEY
#4.I would like to thank you for being so generous with your time. Would
you
mind looking for MYERS / MIRES / MEYERS in Hunterdon County? My Jacob
Myers
was born in Hunterdon County ca 1788. His father was Burtus / Alburus
Mires.
I see only one entry for this surname (surprisingly):
MEYER (MEYERS), Samuel, Jly 35-Dec 39; bought for George Brinkerhoff
#5. May I ask if there are any TROUTs in the accounts? My 4x grandfather
John Trout (1701-1768) lived in Monmouth county and some of his children
went to Gloucester and Morris counties. In trying to locate them I ran
across a number of Trouts in Hunterdon in 1726 onwards who had various
commissions from the English Crown administrators, but cannot connect
them yet. Thanks for your help!
No TROUT
#6. Looking for MITCHEL or possibly MITCHELL John Mitchel a shoemaker
in Clinton
twp Hunterdon county was 37 in the 1850 census his wife Margarett 36,
son
David 16, daughter Mary 12, son Matthies 10, daughter Sarah 8, daughter
Susan

able
to find marriage of Martha Jane to James G. McVicker in Annandale NJ
1867 or
any further information on any of the family.
Thanks
Mitchell McVicker
c'mon, people...
>From the first posting I made about these...
These were the store records of Jacob Janeway covering dates 1735-1746.
The store was located, researchers' best guess, near present-day Bound
Brook. They were donated to Alexander Library at Rutgers and later
edited by Kenn Stryker-Rodda and published in the Gen Magazine of New
Jersey in 1958, over volumes 33 and 34.
There is an entry for the surname MITCHEL(MITCHAL, MITCHELL) [The dates
are 1700s]
Richard, Aug 39-Sep 39, nr Wm TAYLOR
Robert, Dec 40-Sep 46, nr. Jacob T: Eyck; his son Apr 41 (I cannot
explain what this line means)
One word about spelling variations. Stryker-Rodda standardized spellings
in his compilation and made cross references, bringing all the spellings
of a name under one heading. So, I don't need to search 4 or 5 spelling
variants. However, TO BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that your guy's name isn't
there under some other heading, you should check this list yourselves.
#7. Thank you in advance! Are there any Denson, Lowery or Barry
listings? Thanks again for you time. Ruth Denson Hall
No DENSON
LOWRAY, John, Nov 39-May 40, a taylor nr. Daniel Goodman
No BARRY
#8. I've been looking at the entries for these lookups. May I ask whether
you have anyone wiht the last name OSBORN? Joseph OSBORN from Huntredon
was my Revolutionary ancestor. Thank you very much for your help.
Mary Jane Phillips-Matz
OSBOURNE, Ozzie... ? No, no OSBORN
This wraps up inquiries of the past week. To those who want to know more
about the Janeway accounts, this is from my email of July 2. By the way,
all these can be searched at the Rootsweb site if you miss something.
"I'm not familar with the "Janeway Accounts". What are they?
