The first newspaper published in Hunterdon County was the Hunterdon Gazette
and Farmer's Weekly Advertiser which started in March 1825. It was later
shortened to the Hunterdon Gazette and it was in print until purchased by
the Democrat in July 1866.

I am indexing the Gazette and computerizing the items relevant to Hunterdon
County. I have nearly completed 1836 - doing the final proof before creating
the index for that year. Thus almost 12 years are completed with only 30 to
go!!!!!

I will respond to your other query regarding Jacob Johnson, et al after
diner this evening.
