My response:

I've checked the overall index for the Hunterdon Gazette for the years 1825
thru 1835 and have a Jacob Johnson listed in 1825, 1827, 1830, 1831, 1834
and 1835.
There is also a Jacob I. Johnson, and a Jacob J. Johnson. I did not find
Parmelia, nor any listing for the surname HOPPLER. Johnson and Johnston was
a popular name in Hunterdon County, There are 52 persons listed for Johnson
and 23 for Johnston in the 11 years indexed!

If you live near Flemington, New Jersey, you may visit the Hunterdon County
Historical Society which has nearly all the Hunterdon County newspapers in
its collection. That is where I am researching the Gazette and that is where
the index and items can be viewed. Let me know whether you can visit this
center and I'll give you some more information on hours, etc.

If you do not live in the area, I will email you copies of the items in
which the name Jacob Johnson appears. Let me know if your computer can read
MSWord and I will send an attachment which will show the original (almost)
formatting of the articles. If not, I can cut and paste into email but the
formatting and any wood cuts (pictures) are lost and all you get are the
words!

Regards for now, Bill
