RESPONSE:
I am indexing the Hunterdon Gazette, the first newspaper in Hunterdon County, published at Flemington from 1825 to 1866 when it was purchased by the Hunterdon Democrat. I have completed the years 1825 thru 1836. I ran your names through the index and found listings as noted for
DILTS, Harmon:
No. 12: Thursday, June 9, 1825
Notice IS HEREBY GIVEN
That the following accounts will be presented to the Judges of the Orphan' Court of the County of Hunterdon on Friday the 5th day of August, in the term of August next, for allowance and confirmation, viz.
8. William Nixson, Administrator of Harmon Dilts, deceased.
Having been respectively audited and stated by
Geo. Maxwell, Surrogate.
Surrogate's Office, June 1, 1825. } 9-9t
[Note by Bill: These notices were usually filed within a few months of the person's death.]
No. 48: Thursday, February 16, 1826.
By George Rea, John Thompson and Elijah Wilson, judges of the inferior Court of common pleas of the county of Hunterdon.
Notice is hereby given,
That an application to us by John Dilts, who claims one undivided ninth part of all that certain tract of land lying in the township of Kingwood, in the county of Hunterdon, whereof Harmon Dilts died seised in fee simple, containing 150 acres of land, adjoining lands of Col. Richard Coxe, John Wilson, Esq. and others, we had nominated Aaron Vansyckle, Esq. Elisha Everett and Edward Welsted, Esq. commissioners to divide the said tract of land into nine equal shares or parts. And unless proper objections are stated to us at the Court House in Flemington on Monday the tenth day of April next, at ten o'clock in the forenoon of said day, the said Aaron Vansyckle, Esq. Elisha Everett, and Edward Welsted, Esq. will then be appointed commissioners to make partition of the said tract of land pursuant to an act entitled "An act for the more easy partition of lands held by coparceners, joint tenants, and tenants in common," passed the 11th day of November A. D. 1789.
Given under our hands this eighth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-six.
George Rea,
John Thompson,
Elijah Wilson.
[Note by Bill: Kingwood included Franklin township in 1825]
There were no listings for DILTZ. There was one listing for a Paul ANTHONY in 1831 but it was only a notice by a number of land owners in Lebanon township advising people not to hunt on their property.
I have no information on the Churches since I have not indexed them, only names of people!
Hope this helps,
Regards, Bill
