Hi John,
John Hoffman (12 July 1746 - 22 April 1828) a private in the
Revolutionary War, and his wife, Ann Elizabeth Young, b. 20 May 1752, are
buried in the old Lebanon Reformed Cemetery in the Borough of Lebanon. I
know that you will make a trip there so be prepared for a shock. Wear boots
and gloves, bring brush cutters, and mosquito repellent. Fortunately members
of the Genealogical Society of NJ recorded the inscriptions 70 years ago
when the stones were still intact and some care was given to the cemetery
grounds. There are other Revolutionary war veterans buried there. The "new"
Lebanon Reformed Cemetery is beside the church when its location was moved
to the corner of Maple and Brunswick Ave. From Main St. take Cherry street
south and you'll see the old cemetery on the left just before the railroad
tracks.
The Hoffmans lived and died in Cokesbury which is where the confusion
starts. It is only a mile or two up the hill from Rt. 22 at the light on
Cokesbury Road. Contact Rick Novak or Judy Hankinson for more about the
Hoffmans.
Pam Bush

> I am trying to figure out which cemetery my ancestor JOHN HOFFMAN (b.
1746, d. 1828) is buried in. He is mentioned in the Abstract of Graves of
Revolutionary Patriots database from Ancestry.com as being buried in "Old
Cem. Lebanon, NJ." Other sources say he is buried in Cokesbury. Does
anyone know which cemetery this is?
