>From "Genealogy and History of (the) Jones Family"
Norman E. Jones, comp 1953 - 1978

Later in this document I find mention of a current date, being 1958 so my
guess that is the date of the data found here.

Jones speaks of the three brothers who arrived aboard the "Thistle" and that
a forth was left in "Germany". John Peter and John both setteled in
Hunterdon with it appears John later moving to Sussex - I think John Peter
too but Jones's setence structure is not clear on this. Michael settled in
German Valley, about four miles from the Deleware, which according to Jones
is now called Still Valley.

Jacob Lantz, in 1931 reported that Michael's home was still standing and
Jones (1958?) repeats this but tells that it is hardly recogizable due to
improvements. Michael lived there and later married, according to Jones

Michael married Eva Margaretha in 1742.No dates on her birth or death.

Jones does cite five children who survived the dysentery that killed eight
others..The survivors are
1. George Sept 21, 1757 - d July 17, 1840 he married Anna
2. Peter, abt 1759 died Jan 19, 1816 maried to Eliz. Catherine in Easton PA.
3. Henry born about 1760 no date of death or marrige
4. John born about 1762 died 1785 , married Barbara Heller in Easton, PA
5. Mary born abt 1764 no date of death or marriage
He tells that eight more childred died in teh epidemic of 1760

Land records:
Jones cites that the first land record was a deed made from Abram Hulings to
Michael Lantz, Sr June 20, 1770 of r113 acres in Oxford Twp. ( Montana ) NJ,
which Jones thinks is the first since moving from German Valley.

War Records
Jones cites records of a Michael Lance Pvt. 8th Class enrolled in Capt
Kleinhantz's Company, Northampton County, PA Malitia which was said to be
just across the river from Belvidere. Jones thinks the Michael in question
was a nephew of the senior man as Michal Lantz would have been 60 years of
age at the time.

Michael Sr.'s son, George b1757 d 1840, did server in the Continential Army,
as Pvt. 7th Class under Capt. Smelter's Co.Continential Army, Northampton
Couinty Rangers 1778 - 1783.

Another citeing for George Lance , Pvt. 2nd ,Class Capt. Wm. Meyer's Co. 6th
Battalion, Northampton Couinty.

Muster Rol, entered April 18 served 40 days on frontiers total 61 days
service, discharged April 27, 1782. Wasington D.C. More on this for those
interested.

Also included here is The Will of Michael Lantz, 1777, Will of George Lance,
