I will be in the Philadelphia area the last week of August and plan to drive
into Somerset County to do research on my Lafler line.
I have some information that a Lefler family lived in Lebanon township c1737.
I don't know if they are the same as my Lafler family who were in Somerset
County in the 1740's and 1750's. My family seem to have first names that are
of Dutch origin and they were living in an area with lots of settlers of
Dutch ancestry.
Is there a public library in Lebanon township? Would it have any records
that far back that could help me? I am not a member of the Hunterdon County
Historical Society, although I am a member of the Somerset Co. Hist. Society.
I don't know the hours of the Hunterdon County Historical Society or what
collections they hold.
I will not have a lot of time and I do not care to "walk" thru an old
cemetery, so I would be interested in monumental inscriptions.
Thank you,
Annie
