RESPONSE:
The Hunterdon Gazette Index for the Years 1835 through 1836 contain references for:
Dr. Gershom Craven in 1830
Mrs. Rebecca Craven in 1828, 1830 [in a property sale ad with Dr. G. C.] and 1835
Thomas Craven in 1828 and 1830.
The references for Thomas Craven [not sure if he is T. W. Craven] follow:
A List of Letters
Remaining in the Post Office at Flemington, N. J.
on the first day of April, 1828.
C. Thomas Craven,
[My comments, always in brackets!: His letter was among about 50 others. The significance of letters at the Post Office: Mail was not delivered back then, you had to go to the Post Office to get your mail. The Post Master periodically posted a notice in the newspaper with the names of people who had unclaimed letters. What I believe it means, is that someone wrote a letter to the addressee believing them to be located near that Post Office. You can infer that Thomas Craven may have lived near Flemington in April of 1828! Quakertown P.O. was not in business in 1828!]
