Hi Folks,
I'm looking for information on Zachariah Clossen
(Clawson/Clousen/Closen). In his revolutionary war pension papers he says
he was born in 1753 in Maidenhead, N.J. (now Mercer, then Hunterdon Co.).
He goes on to say his parents carried him across the Delaware River to Bucks
County, Pa. He doesn't give his parents names.
In her will in Bucks County Susanna Clayton Edwards names her "cousin"
Mary Closon and her children Zachariah and William. I'm assuming that the
Father had died by 1760 (the date of the will). Zacharaiah shows up later
in Hatfield Twp., Montgomery Co., Pa. during the revolution. His brother
William may be the William Closen who married a Stout at the Dutch Reformed
Church in Bucks County.
Is anyone aware of any tax lists for Hunterdon County in the 1753 time
frame ?
Does anyone know anything more about Susanna Clayton Edwards, her
parents name ?
I've been through the printed N.J. Archives and while there are lots of
Clasons and variants I can't seem to find anyone in the timeframe of
Zachariahs birth, there seem to be some just a few years later.
The Cornealius Clawson who died about 1760 seems to be a good canidate for
his grandfather but none of his kids appeared to have married a Mary.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Jim
