Marilyn, Had an ephipany...from Marshall's info
In "The National Gazetteer of the United States of America - New Jersey
1983" by the United States Geological Survey there's a locale named
Grandin located in Hunterdon Co at coordinate 403703N0745603W. There is
also a populated place named Potterstown (variant name Sidney Potters
Town) located in Hunterdon Co at coordinate 403832N0744756W.
Follow me on this, go to Mapquest, enter Sidney, NJ, and then zoom in 2
times. You'll see Sidney, and the Grandin road aimed directly at it from the
NE. If my recollection is clear, there was a little grouping of houses along
the south branch of the Raritan River, that was called Potters Town...not big
enough to make the assorted Atlases or Gazettes. If I'm not mistaken, this is
in Franklin Twp. Perhaps this will give you a direction to dig further. I do
know all the other Potterstowns, villes, etc. were well outside a easy
horseback ride, the given mode of transport in that day. Still don't know who
the sheriff was <grin> Hoping this is a help. Wendy
