Hello list,

My name is Fuller Runyan, I am descended from the Hunterdon County Runyan's, but that is not why I have joined the list (at this time, anyway). My quandary involves a much more recent relative.

My g-g grandfather's sister, Grace (Runyan) Strine (b. 1866) lived in Frenchtown with her husband Charles W. Strine (according to a 1910 newspaper blurb). He was a newspaper reporter in Philly, then later a booking agent or something for the Metropolitan Opera. She was apparently everyone's favorite aunt back home in Montour Co., PA. I've heard many fond reminiscences, but no solid information to work with as of yet.

They had a daughter, also named Grace (1901 - 1979), who was married to C. Arthur Britton (1898 - 1974). "Little" Grace (as she was known in the family) & Arthur are resting in the Frenchtown Cemetery, but the Strine's are not buried there (at least according to one on-line listing).

I have also lost track of Grace Strine's sister, Florence (Runyan) Miles (1851 - 1903?). She was estranged, apparently, from her husband Dr. J. Hunter Miles of Milton, PA. The family story is she lived in Philadelphia, but to the rest of PA, anywhere within 30 miles of Philly is considered Philly when talking of such things.

My apologies for rambling, but I am hopeful that one of you might have some info, maybe a cemetery listing or a church record. All of those named in this e-mail were Baptist at least at one point.

Anyway, I will wait and hope that someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

Fuller Runyan
Harrisburg, PA
