Subject: [NJHUNTER] Info on EARLY Hunterdon Co Residents
Date: Fri, 1 Nov 2002 18:21:52 -0500
I have been researching the HENDERSON families of Hunterdon Co, NJ for
several years. Unfortunately I have hit a brick wall. A Edward Henderson
1735-1819 lived in Bethlehem Tp, Hunterdon Co from at least 1773 until his
death there in 1819. I am unable to determine: (1) who his parents were or
where he was born (2) Exactly where he lived in Bethlehem Tp or where he is
buried (3) What the surnames of his two wives (Susannah & Rachel) were or
where they are buried. ,and what his relationship to a John Henderson Sr and
a James Henderson. He appears to have been involved in the estates of both
of these individuals. In Nov 1773 he advertised for a run away indentured
servant girl and gave his address as "the upper end of Hunterdon Co". in
Sept 1784 there was an advertisement for a sale of "the late William
Garner" property to be held at the home of Edward Henderson, located two
miles from the Van Syckle Tavern. I also understand there is a "Henderson"
road located less than a mile East of the old Van Syckle (Van Buskirk)
Tavern. Does anyone have any information on these facts? I'd like to
correspond with anyone who is interested in this subject. I have extensive
information on his descendants.
John M. Henderson
