Just a quick message about our mail list.

The mail list is hosted by Rootsweb, which hosts almost 26,000 mail lists.
As you can imaging, they are the target of many spammers and those would
spread computer viruses. As a result, there are a number of conditions
about using the mail list.

1. You must be a subscriber to the list to be able to post to the list. If
you are reading this message, then you are a subscriber and this should not
be a problem. Messages from non subscribers bounce to me and I will contact
the send. If you have multiple email accounts, you must send your message
from the same account that you subscribed with, otherwise you message will
bounce.

2. Rootsweb has spam filters on all the email. These filters removed a lot
of the spam directed at the list. However, they are not perfect. Sometimes
spam does get through and once in a rare case, legitimate email is rejected
as spam. If you tried to post a message and it did not appear on the list,
let me know and I can check to see if it was rejected.

3. Your email messages cannot have attachments of any kind. They will not
make it to the list and your message will be returned to you. Too many
viruses spoof themselves as legitimate attachment types. If you want to
make a picture or text document available, send a regular message to the
list announcing the fact that you have the document and ask subscribers to
request the document directly from you. You will have to email directly to
all who request it. There are 460 subscribers to the Hunterdon County Mail
list, so you might be busy.

4. Your email messages cannot contain any HTML code. They also will not
make it to the list and your message will be returned.

5. The list is archived. You can review past messages by going to:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com and entering the name of the list njhunter.
The list has been active since February 1998.
