Subject: [NJHUNTER] High School Diplomas, a Survey

Trying to determine when Reading Academy officially became Flemington High School.

Evidence suggests that the Reading Academy [founded in 1862; Snell] included grades 1 through 12 and that the high school was distinct but was also part of Reading Academy.

A Diploma dated 1908 was issued by the "Raritan Township High School". The Reading Echo of 1909, a published school "paper", noted that it was produced by the students of Flemington High School. Flemington was separated from Raritan Township in 1910 and became the Borough of Flemington.

What I need to know from all you good researchers out there is:

1. Do you have in your archives - diplomas issued from the High School on Bonnell Street, Flemington for the time period 1909 through about 1930 or until issued solely by FHS?

2. If yes, please let me know the full date it was awarded and the full name of the High School that issued the diploma.

3. A dated and documented source in which this nebulous event [Reading Academy to Flemington High School] transpired!

Thank you all very much for you participation in this survey. The results will be presented on this venue when a definitive date has been determined.

Regards, Bill
