on the U. S. Consumer Price Index from 1800 though 2001. You can find
the present value of money "way back when" related to your ancestor's
property value, rent, salary, etc.
One limitation of the program is that certain sectors of the economy
seem to have far exceeded the U. S. Consumer Price Index. In any
event, it is a fun tool to try.
