I wanted to share an obit notice from 1906 (Hunterdon Gazette?) in case
someone on the list is related to this family. I found it in my
grandmother's (Bertha Stull Foster) bible (unfortunately she didn't write
any family data in it). I haven't found a family connection to the Niece
family. She did attend the same church and I suspect they may have been
friends.
"Many friends in Kingwood were saddened to learn of the death of Floyd
Niece, oldest son of Edward Niece, who died on Tuesday, May 15, 1906, and
was buried May 18. He was an ideal young man; converted last fall in the
revival meetings at Kingwood; his Christian life and character were in
evidence every day that he was a child of God, and was called home to make
Heaven much brighter; he has only gone on, and may many of his young friends
follow in his footsteps. He was only 19 years old, but a young Christian
that was not afraid to speak of Jesus. He will be missed so much in his home
and in his church. Sevices were held in the Kingwood M. E. Church and
attended by a very large concourse of relatives and friends. Rev. Lewis
Gordon preached the funeral sermon from the following text: 'Set thine house
in order; for thou shalt die and not live.' Interment in Rosemont Cemetary."
