Dear John,
From what I gather from the book, I believe that the list only
included "active" members at the time of the church centennial.
Statistics indicate that during the first decade (1798 - 1808),
membership was 85 people. By 1848, the membership had increased
sharply to 295. To your point, I do not include that many early
members on my website.
**Baptism**
Trusting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord and making a public decision
of this commitment through baptism. As I understand it, the Baptist
Church only performed baptism by "immersion". The Methodist Church
performed baptisms by either "immersion" or "sprinkling".
**Letter**
A letter from your former church, if you are a Baptist, stating your
experience in Christ and church membership.
**Experience**
A personal statement of your salvation experience in Christ and
subsequent witness through baptism and your inability to provide a
letter of recommendation for membership.
**Restoration**
Probably, someone who left the church and wished to be restored to
membership.
I hope this helps.

source book was published? Because there doesn't seem to be many
members listed before 1850. In addition, what do the letters mean? I
see that "B" means "by baptism" and "L" means "by letter," etc., but
what significance and meaning do they have?
