Hi Lorrie,

From:
"Hunterdon County Place Names", Phyllis B. D'Autrechy, Published by Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Flemington, New Jersey, Copyright 1992.

BRAYS HILL, Clinton Township. This is an eminence a little more than a mile northwest from the village of Lebanon where a post office was established as early as 1820. Later the post office was moved closer to the busier Easton and New Brunswick Turnpike where the village of Lebanon grew. (Schmidt:21; Snell:536)

BRAYSVILLE, Clinton Township. This is probably a name given to the settlement on Bray's Hill. In 1870 a new road was built toward High Bridge (now called Thau Road) which had as its easterly terminus the road from Braysville to Cokesbury according to a road record of the period.

Regards, Bill

Subject: [NJHUNTER] Where is Bray's Hill?

Hi All:
I am trying to locate the town or township from a 1924 obit that listed a "tenant house on the farm of John C. Sutton of Bray's Hill". Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks for any help,
Lorrie "Dilley" Crompton
