Hi Lorrie,

Just to add a tidbit to what Bill has written, if you were looking at a
current map of Hunterdon, one of the two roads that runs up from Rt 22 to
Cokesbury is Petticoat Lane. (The other is Cokesbury Rd. but that is
further east and comes out of Lebanon Boro.). At the intersection of Rt 22
and Petticoat Lane - if you were coming down Petticoat Lane and went
straight across there is a dead end street (that once went through) and the
sign says Bray's Hill Road. To reach the area where that road once went
these days you'd have to go down Sand Hill Road. Don;t know when Sand Hill
Rd was put in but hope that helps you.

Dana

mile northwest from the village of Lebanon where a post office was
established as early as 1820. Later the post office was moved closer to the
busier Easton and New Brunswick Turnpike where the village of Lebanon grew.

settlement on Bray's Hill. In 1870 a new road was built toward High Bridge
(now called Thau Road) which had as its easterly terminus the road from
Braysville to Cokesbury according to a road record of the period.
