Subject: [NJHUNTER] Is a list adoptable or non-existent? or learning about being a listowner
Date: Mon, 14 Jul 2003 15:24:11 -0400
Here are the steps to use to find out the duties of a listowner and to
find out if 'your' surname list is adoptable or non-existent and how to
adopt the list or have it created with you being the listowner
I sent out a 2nd message. Let me know if you have any problems with the
steps that I gave on how to find a particular mailing list. I think I
put in all the steps but I might have forgotten a step or two. You
should be able to find any list that you are looking for; if it exists.
If it does not; then you can request a mailing list; if you are willing
or can find someone willing to be the listowner.
go to this URL to find the duties of a listowner to see if you feel you
can do it.
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/duties.html
then if you feel you can handle being a listowner go to this URL and see
if the list is adoptable or non-existent. If it is adoptable then you
can adopt it; or if it is non-existent then you can request to have it
created.
To find out if it is adoptable go to this URL:
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/adoptable/
If it does not exist; then go to this URL and you can request the
creation of the list.
