Hi Marshall and All,
How about tax records, how far do they go back ? I think someone
earlier mentioned 1786, are those the earliest tax records ?
My Zachariah Clawson (Closen) claims in his Revolutionary War Pension file
that he was born in 1753 in Maidenhead, N.J. He mentions that his father
and mother carried him across the Delaware River when he was a young child
but he doesn't give his father or mother's name. I've found his mother name
in Bucks County, Pa. but not his father and suspect the father died shortly
after entering Bucks County. I'm looking for his first name so I can try to
plug him into one of the Clawson families in N.J.
Jim
