Hi Everyone:
I was browsing through a book of extracts from the Lambertville Press
yesterday at the Clayton Genealogy Library here in Houston. Under the
date 28 December 1859 - Hunterdon Co. Business Directory, the following
appears.
Clover Hill House, Wm. TITUS, Prop., Clover Hill
Can anyone give me any information about Clover Hill House? William
TITUS is listed on the 1860 U.S. Census for Clover Hill and shows his
occupation as a "Hotel Keeper".
It is my belief that William L. TITUS is the son of Theophilus TITUS and
Elizabeth LEGARE. Her father was William LEGARE and I am speculating
that their son is William Legare TITUS. I am attempting to
"reconstruct" a family for this couple.
It is my belief that they had at least 4 sons, William b. 1809;
Theophilus b. 1816; Charles b. 1820 (My 3 X Great Grandfather) and
Joseph H. b. 1824. The Christian name Theophilus has been the clue to
identifying these people. The name came into this branch of the TITUS
family when Jesse TITUS married Mary PHILLIPS and named one of their
sons Theophilus for Mary's Great Grandfather Theophilus PHILLIPS of
Maidenhead.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
