Did your ancestor go to Harrison Co WV from Hunterdon Co NJ? My Benjamin
Holden did too. He was in the Hunterdon Co Militia.

I would try every spelling variation, and also see if they had a pension
record. Sometimes the pension records are filed separately than military
records.
Most Rev War vets applied for the small token pensions that the govt was
handing out in the 1830s. Generally the vet had to supply info at an
interview
if they weren't already getting a pension. Also, some applied for land
grants.
My ancestor was in the Sussex militia, and while he did not get a land
grant,
he did apply for a pension in early 1830s. He lived in West Virginia at the
time, and I found his record numbers under a WV listing.
