Dear Christie,
The person who posted these clippings to the list stated UP FRONT,
when she began posting them, that she had found these clippings in her aunt's
possessions and they did not have any of the identifying information that you
want. They were not marked or dated in any way. Just cut out of the paper in
the manner that my grandmother used to do---more to remember a personal
acquaintance than to document the history of a family.
Most of us felt that they were still of value, and contained a lot of
information and more than several people on the list encouraged the person
who was putting them on the list to continue doing so.
Several other people, like you, have complained, but I think more
people seem to feel that they have value AS IS.
Have you not been getting all of your List mail?? Because if you
have, you should have been aware of the reasons the clippings did not contain
identifying information. And you would have seen the follow up mails about this
issue.
Yes, in a perfect world her aunt would have carefully documented
everything, but we live in a less than perfect world. I am sure for those who are
researching those names and have an idea who these people are, they are
gleaning clues from the articles even though they might not contain everything that
they want.
