PLEASE NOTE - The following newspaper clippings are from a collection found
after my great Aunt passed away. She unfortunately made no note of what paper
they came from or the date. I felt they may still provide important clues for
somebody and other listers agreed so I have been posting them regardless.



Noted Furrier Dead At Lebanon

After an illness of two years, which included treatment at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, Alvah A. CONOVER, widely-known as a furrier, died at his home in Easton avenue, Lebanon, at 11 o'clock Tuesday night. He was 58 years old. He had been a member of Council since the borough was incorporated in 1926.

Mr. CONOVER was born in Fairmount Sept. 6, 1876, only son of Cyrus A. and Mary Jane CONOVER. At an early age, he entered into partnership with his father in the fur buying business.

In addition to this business, Mr. CONOVER entered the mercantile business about 25 years ago in Lebanon, the firm being known as C. A. CONOVER & Son, until the death of his father in 1918. For the past eight years Mr. CONOVER had been associated in the fur and store business with his cousin, Barzilla CONOVER.

Mr. CONOVER's first wife died Mar. 14, 1916. His only son, Albert, died Feb. 28, 1921.

On Jan. 25, 1923, he married Mrs. Martha APEL of New York city, who survives, as do also two step-daughters, Mrs. John CARTER, Westfield and Miss Olga APEL of New York.

Mr. CONOVER was a member of Stewart Lodge 34, F. and A.M. of Clinton; Crescent Temple Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of Trenton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Reformed church in Lebanon, Rev. B.F. WHITE officiating and the Masonic order attending. Burial will be made in the Methodist cemetery, Lebanon.



Mrs. Ira LUTES

Mrs. Kathryn A. LUTES, sixty-one years old, died suddenly on Thursday at her home in Pottersville. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert AMMERMAN and had always resided in the Pottersville vicinity. She was a member of the Fairmount Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Ira LUTES. Also two sisters, Mrs. SQUIRES and Miss Jennie AMMERMAN, of Morristown, and two brothers, Samuel AMMERMAN, of Chester, and Andrew AMMERMAN, of Newark.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon in the Fairmount Presbyterian Church. Rev. Frank E. DE PUE, the pastor, officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
