PLEASE NOTE - The following newspaper clippings are from a collection found
after my great Aunt passed away. She unfortunately made no note of what paper
they came from or the date. I felt they may still provide important clues for
somebody and other listers agreed so I have been posting them regardless.
Dr. KINTON, 42, Lebanon Councilman
Lebanon- Dr. Sperry Clark KINTON, 42, member of the Lebanon Borough Council, died yesterday (May 30, 1955) at 7 p.m. in his home on Central Ave. His death was due to a heart condition. He had complained of feeling ill during the day and had had a cardiac examination.
Born August 16, 1912, in Bedford, Pa., he was the son of Howard S. KINTON and the late Mrs. KINTON. Dr. KINTON spent his early life in Bedford where his father still resides.
Dr. KINTON was graduated from the Veterinary College of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1936 and served one year as resident doctor at the university.
>From 1937-46 he conducted a veterinary practice in Warren, Pa., In 1946 he joined in partnership with his brother-in-law, Dr. James FRAZEE, and operated the Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital at Whitehouse. Both Dr. FRAZEE and Dr. KINTON had resided in Lebanon, however.
In addition to his father, Dr. KINTON is survived by his widow Mrs. Violet E. VanLangeveld KINTON; two sons, Robert, 10, and James, 4.
Dr. KINTON served the Borough Council for several terms. He was a member of the Lebanon Reformed Church; Stewart Lodge, F and AM, of Clinton; Crescent Temple Shrine, Trenton; vice-president of West Jersey Shrine Club, all Masonic orders, and treasurer of Hunterdon Horseman's Club.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by the Bright Funeral Home, Lebanon. There will be Masonic rites. Interment will be in Union Cemetery adjoining Lebanon Methodist Church.
Aunt Hale APGAR
Dead at Ninety-One
Mrs. Mahala APGAR, affectionately known as "Aunt Hale," died at 5:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at her home in Mountainville, after an illness of complications incident to old age since last December. She had been confined to her bed about three weeks. She was 91 years and 8 months old.
She is survived by three sons, George A. APGAR, of Mountainville; Martin E. APGAR, of Far Hills, and Frank L. APGAR, of Long Valley, besides 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Cokesbury Methodist Episcopal Church and the Ladies' Aid Society of that church. She was born and had lived practically all her life in Mountainville. Her husband, James APGAR, died about 16 years ago, and she has since resided alone. She began housekeeping at the time Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated President.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from her late home and burial will be at Cokesbury. Rev. George MaGILL, pastor of the Cokesbury Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate.
