PLEASE NOTE - The following newspaper clippings are from a collection found
after my great Aunt passed away. She unfortunately made no note of what paper
they came from or the date. I felt they may still provide important clues for
somebody and other listers agreed so I have been posting them regardless.

"Daddy's In Florida"
Who once said "Wonder what would happen if I were away for a month or a day."
The furnace left on-
The chickens unfed;
The lights all burning,
The family all yearning.
Away to the south, to a warmer air Daddy went filled with care.
But now it'd been tested and tried here's hoping his worry all died, for the eggs in the nest didn't freeze.
The coal in the furnace burns red and the chickens are watered and fed with the greatest of ease;
The lights are out, the house is dim- Just as if daddy were here- we're thinking of him.
The weather's been to zero or below, and the snow fell eight inches or so, but we shoveled, you know, and swept until our promise was kept.
The place looks just like he were here rendering his care and lending his cheer.
Laboring as usual for his family of three; he's now in the south, we hope, warm and free.
So enjoy the days that are left for you and momma and Charles will too; for we now surely know just what you do, we've done every chore as we promised before.
