Hi Beverly,
I realized he was the seller on that auction, but was talking more about
mentioning auctions on the lists, in general. But no, I did NOT see his item
description! $67,000? I'm going to have to go back and check that out. And
you're right, the mention of accepting e-mail offers seems to be breaking eBay
policy as I know it. Personally, I wouldn't want to buy "off" of eBay because
you wouldn't be protected.
Speaking of eBay, for those not familiar with what's available, please let me
share one of my treasure finds with you... my Great-Grandfather was a member
of the Buffalo Consistory masons group in Buffalo, NY. I recently found a
pamphlet from one of their anniversary celebrations and I won it for $2.00!!! I
was thrilled to find that it included a photo of my Great-GrandDad, that I'd
never seen, and he was in a tux no less! Made my year!
Best,
Lorraine

Lorraine,
Unfortunately in this case, it is the seller of the photo-album who posted to
this Hunterdon County list. The starting bid on Ebay was set prohibitively
high at $67,000. If you read through the item description, it states "I will
consider offers by email". So, it appears to me that the seller may be
attempting to solicit off-site buyers. This may be a violation of the Ebay
User (Seller) Agreement... another so-called "gray" area? As far as rules
go, what rules??? We should all be so clever.
