I have a Thomas Beavers, b. 1766 in Louden County, VA. He married a Sarah
Lentz Spencer. They migrated to Highland County, Ohio.
It is thought that this Thomas Beavers is related to the Beavers who were in
Sussex and Hunterdon Counties. I am not sure anyone knows exactly what the
relationship of this Thomas Beavers to the NJ Beavers is, but everytime I see
Spence/Spencer come up, I feel that this family might be the same as Thomas
Beavers of Va's wife.
After looking at that Clifford Website, I see more similarities. I am a
descendant of Spencer Carter of Sussex/Warren County, buried with his wife Sarah
in the Greenwich Cemetery. I also so that the Clifford family married into
the Maxwell family. I am a descendant of William Maxwell's sister,
Jane/Gennet Maxwell who married James Kennedy.
I have wondered if Spencer Carter is the son of a woman who's maiden name was
Spencer. I have been unable to make that link. I currently have a DAR
supplemental waiting to be verified for Spencer Carter. If he is approved, he
will be a new ancestor in the Patriotic Index. No one has every claimed him
before. It should be approved as we found his original records as a Forager
for the Colonial Army.
Does anyone have any thoughts about more connections of these people?
Judith Arthur
