I am not sure if it helps but John Wortman's wife Charlotte, her family
lived at Lamington, NJ.
Chances are John lived and worked nearby.

On 19 August, 1778 John Woortman/Wortman was charged with high treason
by the Council of Safety of the State of New Jersey, but it doesn't say
which county. He was charged with being the ringleader of a party of
Tories who had agreed to waylay and capture a party of men and carry
them to Colonel Butler and the Indians. Bergen County, Sussex or
Hunterdon seem the most likely. I've looked various places but have
found nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Charlene Talbot
