Thanks for the listing. I didn't know of this cemetery, and the names you
listed sent me off on a journey! I went there today and found 25 people in
my family files--Dorland, Apgar, Alpaugh, and Creveling in just 1/2 hour of
looking. The cemetery is well maintained and nicely laid out, but almost all
of it is in the sun, so go on a shady day <bg>! On bit of advice on
traveling there. There is a bridge on 513 that is being repaired just before
the center of Califon and the church, so Hunterdon County sends you on a
detour if you are going north on 513 from Route 31. After you pass High
Bridge and Voorhees High School on 513 North there is the detour. Make a
left onto Rte 628 (Woodglen Road) at Bunnvale at the road detour sign.
Follow that up past Woodglen School. After Woodglen School the road comes to
a stop at East Hill Road. Make a right on East Hill Road. Stay on this road
until the "T" intersection with Sliker Road. Turn right at Sliker Road. This
will take you right into Califon at 513 where you can see the church on your
left.

Hi Millie,

Lower Valley Union Cemetery is adjacent to the Lower Valley Presbyterian
Church on Route 513, Califon, NJ. Formerly the cemetery for the Presbyterian
Church this old cemetery is still active. Older tombstones have surnames
Alpaugh, Apgar, Beam, Beavers, Bird/Burd, Bunn, Cheveling, Cregar, Dorland,
Farley, Flomerfelt, Fritts, Gulick, Hoffman/Huffman, Hoover, Hoppaugh,
Lindaberry, Neighbour, Philhower, Sliker, Stires, Sutton, Trimmer, Wack,
Weise, Welsh, and Wise.

I don't think that the tombstone inscriptions have been published or are
available on-line, but if you call the church office the secretary can give
you the cemetery contact person.

I am surprised there are no LANTZ - LANCE listings here as I know my people
married into most of these lines.
