Hello!
If there is evidence of a stone in the Case Burial Ground of a person that
died in 1756, then there still may be hope for me!
My husband and I visited Flemington, last October, in hopes that we might
find the burial place of my husband's gggg grandparents, Thomas and
Catharine Jobs. Thomas and Catharine were killed when they were struck by
lightening while sleeping on the floor of their home.
We searched high and low for their final resting place, but to no avail. We
even went through the card file at the hisorical society, but could not find
any reference to Thomas and Catharine. We were told by a gentleman at the
historical society that since New Jersey, had been involved in so many war
battles, that not too much of the colonial era is left.( They both died on
September 14th, 1796. ) Do you think that there still might be a chance for
us to find my husband's ancestors' burial site? I've seriously considered
seeking the help of an archeologist!
Would love to hear back from you!
Chris and Debbie Jobes

I have seen a section of the cemetery at the end of Bonnel Stree in
Flemington referred to as the "Case Burying Ground" ... the southwest corner
of the cemetery.
The only CASE who I know is buried there is Johann Philip KAES (1665 - Jan
1756). His stone is marked "JPK 1756".
