Teresa,

Ferdinand Shrope / Srope came from France about 1750, and originally
settled into the village of Norton at Union Township. His son,
Christopher, died in Union Township September 19, 1848. Christopher's
wife, Thankful Penwell, died at Baptistown, Kingwood Township, on June
19, 1852.
For early family burials, you may want to check Bethlehem Presbyterian
Churchyard. It was one of the earliest cemeteries in the area. The
Hunterdon Historical Society has a card file of those interments.

You will find a few Shrope / Srope buried at the Norton United M. E.
Churchyard.

You will also find some family buried in Frenchtown Cemetery (in
Frenchtown Borough) just on the fringe of Kingwood Township.

As far as I know, there are no Shrope's / Srope's at the Mount
Pleasant Cemetery in Alexandria Township.

If you will be in Hunterdon County soon, you may want to check for
wills at the Surrogate's Court in Flemington. Frequently, a place of
burial is included on the document.

Good luck,
