Dear Jan, When I just replied, I hadn't noticed that you had forwarded the
entries regarding the Martins. Thank you so much; my Hess ancestors used
their middle name (Martin) during the time of the Revolution because (we
believe) they didn't want to be associated with the Hessian Army that was
causing destruction across new Jersey. The John Martin and wife Susannah
that you noted as sponsors to the Schmid baby were the baby's grandparents
