Hunterdon County "land records" consist of deeds and mortgages on file at
the County Clerk's office in Flemington. Only the most recent deeds have
been digitized. To consult the indexes of deeds and mortgages you have to
visit the Hall of Records on Main Street, Flemington. Other land records
include Special Deeds, Partitions, Liens, etc, all of which have to be
searched on site. The staff cannot search for you.
Earlier conveyances (up to about 1795) are on record at the NJ State
Archives in Trenton, and they also have to be searched on site. Some old NJ
deeds can be found in the New Jersey Abstracts, but nothing for Hunterdon.
