Marfy, Dave et al,
I want to clarify something that I said last night about William
Roberts---I said that at the time of his marriage his residence was given as
Solebury, PA. That is true in so far as that is the way the announcement in the
newspaper in Bucks Co. read.
This from the BUCKS COUNTY NEWSPAPER MARRIAGE NOTICES 1804-1834,
found at the Spruance Library, Doylestown, PA: 23 Nov 1822 Roberts, William of
Solebury, PA to Effey Housel of Hunterdon Co., NJ, by Rev. Mr. Bartleson
[spelling as it appeared---should be Bartolette] (3 Dec. 1822).
In the official marriage record (Vol.2-264)found in the Hall of
Records in Flemington, William's place of residence is simply noted as being Bucks
Co. and Effy Howsel [spelling as it appears] is of Hunterdon Co.
