Dear Map Owner;
This is known as a cadastral map. It was made by Stanton Hammond (Of
map company fame). Mr. Hammond used the early deeds for the Hunterdon area
to draw the bounds of the various plots. I have read that it was his hobby
and that it took him a life time.
The dates refer to the dates on the indivdual deeds at the time it was
originally owned by an early owner. That is why there are manydifferent
dates on the map,
There are quite a few sheets like this. There is also an index. You
may purchase one or the whole set from the Genealogical Societyof New
Jersey.
You can view the maps in Warren County Historical Society. Also you
can probably see same at Hunterdon County Historical Society. Also at our
bigger reference libraries, I think.
