A copy of an obituary found in the Whitehouse Weekly Review, July 30, 1924, page 1.

Mrs. Emma Smith, seventy-five years old, of Lebanon, died on Saturday evening, July 19, in the Somerville Hospital, where she had been taken previously for treatment. She was a native of High Bridge and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hildebrant. Her husband, Stewart Smith, died nine years ago. Her death was due to dropsy and heart trouble. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ada Rinehart of Annandale; Mrs. R. S. Apgar, of East orange; Amos Smith, of Califon; Alvah Smith, of Butler, NY; Mrs. Geroge W. Shafer, of Canton, O.; Mrs. William Taylor, of Somerville; Luther Smith, of Lebanon, and Nathan Smith of Round Valley. Funeral services were held on Wednesday in the Lebanon Methodist Church. Rev. P. C. Bascom, the pastor, officiated. Interment was made in the Lebanon Methodist Cemetery.
