The funeral of John P. Smith, eighty-seven years old, was held on Wednesday afternoon at his home in Annandale. Interment was made in the Newell Cemetery, at Stanton. Mr. Smith had been in good health until stricken with paralysis a new weeks before his death.
He was the son of the late Peter and Catherine Leigh Smith, of Round Valley, and had spent the greater part of his life at Stanton, where he was engaged in farming. Mr. Smith is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith Cavalier Smith, whom he married about 15 years ago. His first wife was Mrs. Isabelle DeMott Smith, who died about seventeen years ago. He is also survived by two daughters by his first wife, Mrs. Susan Porter of Flemington, and mrs. Alice McAlone of New York. Also two sisters, Mrs. Clara A. Fackenthall, ninety-nihe years old, of Stanton, and Mrs. Elizabeth Haver, seventy-six years old, of Lebanon.
