Carol,
as a bit of trivia, one of the most famous rifle shots in the late 1800s was
a man named Farrow who later developed the Farrow rifle. Mr. Farrow wrote
"How I became a crack shot" and won just about every competiton he entered,
including a famous match with both the Britts and Irish teams.

I have read his book and can tell you more if you like.
