I would suggest trying to obtain records from NJ Archives first (cheaper).
Then I would try PA. Not only are NJ records cheaper to obtain, I've been
inaccessibly lucky with the people who have tried to help me. The service is
better where they look up the older records. They seem more sensitive to the
needs of people searching for their genealogy. But my experience, as a whole, has
been rewarding. Of course, it's easy to say that when I was able to find so
much. But it's worth a try. I was able to advance the NJ branches by leaps &
bounds after obtaining many of the records I requested.

I hope this helps you break through that proverbial brick wall we all know
too well!
