Carol,
The Tunis Cole you mention was the second husband of my ancestor Nancy
Hamler Bird Cole (c1790-1874). She was first married to an Andrew Bird who
according to family legend, died in a fall from a barn he was helping to
build. Nancy was also apparently Tunis' second wife although I don't know
the name of his first wife. Nancy and Tunis are buried at the old Methodist
church cemetery in Bernardsville which was one of the cemeteries I visited
during a trip to NJ last week. Its also curious that you mention Bulah Cole
who was Nancy's daughter. She also remarried, to William S. Frost, after
her first husband Peter Cole died. William's father Ezekial Frost is also
buried in the same cemetery. Bulah and William are also my GGG grandparents
and William is buried at the Congregational Church Cemetery in Chester
(Morris County) although I've yet to find a burial location for Bulah.
Regards,
Rick Novak

Subject: Tunis Cole - died 1851
Hello listers,
While searching for an illusive COLE ancestor I came across the will of a
Tunis Cole in Somerset County, proved July 29, 1851. I remember others on
this list researching the Cole surname so thought I would post the finding
from Tunis Cole's will in case it might assist someone.
The will mentions his daughter Sarah Allen, his daughter Jemima Ryall, his
daughter Elizabeth Angelman, his daughter Ann Chapman, his daughter Mary
Wolfe, his daughter Christiana Jerolaman, his son Tunis, his son Isaiah, his
granddaughter Henrietta (daughter of deceased son Peter), Henrietta's mother
Bulah Cole, his son Jacob Henry Smith Cole, and his son Andrew Smith Cole.
Although there is mention of his wife he just refers to her as "my beloved
wife" and does not name her.
Hope this might provide a missing link to someone.
