Roz, you are quite correct. Rail was introduced to America in 1825 but the
rails were I think wood and the "service" was very limited. This was in essence
open air horse cart wagons. I think speeds were in the 5 to 10 MPH range.
It was in 1830 that South Carolina Rail offered the fist regular service in
North America.
