Subject: Elijah BRAY and Martha STRIMPLE 1830s

This is in response to recent messages to this list about the BRAY family and
Wayne County, Ohio.
I have STRIMPLE and STOUT ancestors in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
My great(3)-grandparents Aaron STRIMPLE (1803-1890) and wife Keziah STOUT
(1804-1886) moved from Hunterdon County, New Jersey, to Huron County, Ohio, in
the late 1830s. They lived at various times in Huron and Richland Counties,
Ohio. (Both are near Wayne County, Ohio.

I have a copy of a letter written in 1851 from Ripleyville, Ohio, (I assume
Ripley Township, Huron County, Ohio) to Elizabeth Strimple at Kingwood Post
Office, Hunderdon County, New Jersey. There are two authors, Christopher
Strimple (who writes "Dear mother") and William Bray (who writes "Dear
Grandmother").
Christopher Strimple is a brother of my great(3)-grandfather, Aaron Strimple.
I *conjecture* that William Bray who co-wrote the letter is the William Bray
in the following census record.
1850 Cass Township, Richland County, Ohio
115 119
Peter Falkner 34 m Shoe maker Germany
Margaret " 32 f Germany
Margaret " 7 " Germany
Elijah Bray 54 m Farmer 1600 N.J.
Martha " 50 f N.J.
William " 25 m "
Jane E. " 20 f " attended school
Samuel " 17 m " attended school
Manning [unsure of initial] " 14 m Ohio attended school
Amanda E. Collis 9 f " attended school
Also, I *conjecture* that Martha Bray in this census record is Martha
Strimple, sister of Christopher and Aaron Strimple, but I haven't found any records
to confirm that Martha Strimple of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, married Elijah
Bray.
Any thoughts?
