How is this service from Ancestry? Is it easy to search/do you like it? You say the database is complete? (just double-checking on that last one)
I have an ancestor (with a fairly common name) who I am desparate to search for, and this database would be a total shot in the dark. I am waiting for a few more databases to come up to date before I spend more money on Ancestry. (Emmigrant Savings Bank is another) Just trying to get a feel before I make the plunge.

Hi Marshall,
Ancestry.com just completed their collection of WWI Draft Registration
Cards online. A search for your John C. LAKE shows that he was born June
24, 1883. John's permanent home address is Lake Hopatcong, Morris, NJ.
However, his present occupation is a pipe fitter at B. F. Shaw Company out
of Wilmington, Delaware. Next of kin is Lillian V. Lake. The card gives a
brief physical description of John as tall, medium build, with dark brown
hair and blue eyes. (Date of this WWI draft card is September 3, 1918.)
You may find the following obituary of interest from the New York Times
Newspaper - December 17, 1942.
MRS. MAHLON SMITH
East Orange, NJ - Dec 16th
Mrs. Charlotte SMITH, who was the proprietor of the Sunnyside Hotel at
Nolan's Point, Lake Hopatcong, for many years, died today at the age of 90
in the home of her son, John C. LAKE, after a long illness. Mrs. SMITH went
to the resort (that is, Lake Hopatcong) with her first husband, Jacob LAKE,
to operate the American House in Great Cove. Later she took over the
Sunnyside Hotel. Her second husband was the late Mahlon SMITH. Besides her
son, she leaves a sister, Miss Ella Felmy of Round Valley, NJ, and four
grandchildren.
Marshall, please visit the following URL for the Jefferson County
Bi-Centennial.
http://jefferson.bicentennial.org/about/history11.html
There, you will see a description of the Sunnyside Hotel, built by Mahlon
SMITH. Keep digging, and you will find a couple of nice old images of that
place.
Good luck,
Beverly.
