Hello all,

Well, it would seem that Holland Township was formed from Alexandria Township in the late 1800's per Marshall Lake and there must have been some opposition as it kept going back and forth between Alexandria & Holland township, perhaps there are newspapaer articles discussing the whys of this. Also, it seems clear, due to Dutch settlement in NJ and that a RR depot was called "Holland Station" that the folks back then decided to name themselves for the RR station and could it be that the Holland Station was named for a family named Holland, they seem to be listed in the Hunterdon Democrat?

There seems to be no mention of these back and forth transitions in the ONLINE Hunterdon Democrat by Dennis Sutton, so....
